Caleb is an associate attorney at Terpening Wilder Law. He brings more than three years of experience from the Federal Public Defender’s Office for the Western District of North Carolina. While there, Caleb litigated criminal trials and appeals, and post-conviction matters.
Like the other attorneys at TWL, Caleb has a strong passion for courtroom advocacy, earning the respect of both opposing counsel and judges. His clients are impressed with Caleb’s diligence and attention to detail.
At TWL, Caleb provides civil and criminal litigation support to the team by reviewing and analyzing discovery, conducting legal research for complicated litigation matters, and representing clients in the courtroom. Caleb has a particular passion for criminal defense work—it’s where he started his legal career – and continues to thrive in that environment.
Caleb is a proud alumnus of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. After graduation, Caleb worked as a Deputy Clerk of Mecklenburg County Superior Court in Charlotte for three years. Caleb left the Clerk’s Office and attended law school at Charlotte School of Law where he graduated cum laude with Pro Bono Honors in 2014. While in law school, Caleb was a member of the Moot Court Honor Board and was the recipient of the Dean’s Professionalism Award. He also clerked for two federal judges—one trial judge in the Western District of North Carolina, and one appellate judge on the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals.
In addition to practicing law, Caleb enjoys singing in professional choirs and teaching criminal justice courses at Central Piedmont Community College. He is also a guest lecturer at his alma mater, UNC Charlotte. On the weekends, Caleb enjoys spending time at the U.S. National Whitewater Center with his wife, Meredith, and their two dogs.
